Would you like to know why the body begins to react to everyday events the same that it would to a life threatening occurrence ?
Definition- Fight or flight is a post- traumatic stress. It’s a physiological reaction that occurs in response to a perceived harmful event, attack or threat to survival.
Those of us who have higher levels of emotional reactivity may be prone to anxiety and aggression. Stimulation of the cortex by the sympathetic nervous system causes release of hormones into the blood to initiate the fight or flight response.
If we are suddenly confronted with a frightening situation are sympathetic nervous system in response to the information that our brain integrates sends a message to the adrenal medulla which releases information into the blood in short bursts. This is very helpful if our life is in danger to remove us from the situation, but increased levels of stress over long periods of time can be harmful to the entire body because of the extra work this heightened state puts on the entire organism.
Over time this reaction becomes very debilitating.
The head center takes on mental pressure as well especially for those of us with open root centers, we take on others stress as well . The adrenal glands are not designed to constantly release cortisone otherwise we would simply burnout.
It’s important to realize that our stress won’t last forever, those of us with the open root center stress ourselves trying to get rid of stress.
Anxiety and stress are actually useful
Anxiety and stress are actually useful and neither good nor bad and are fuels for the whole living process so we can use it to our advantage.
One way to do this is to realize that we can control the levels of stress in the same way we turn the volume on are cell phones up and down. When we can become present and aware while we are in the midst of a heightened moment of fear and stress we can immediately make the conscious decision to turn are inner dial down.
When we fight we began to move with fear, anxiety and stress therefore if we choose to see them as allies we could move in unison with our strategy and design and have healthy control over our lives and be able to handle and manage all of the things that overwhelmed us in the past.
